The gift is not what is important. The using of the gift at the command of the Holy Spirit is what is important. To have the gift and not ever come to maturity in Christ is much worse than never having the gift. Spiritual senses are developed by use. Read Scripture, but ask God to speak to you through it. God speaks through every spiritual sense: hearing, feeling, vision, smelling, and tasting. Don't look for the dynamic over the top experience. Look for Jesus. Mostly, He is not real loud but you will sense His comfort and confidence when He speaks. It is love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, meekness, the self controlled by the Holy Spirit and supernatural trust and belief. When He tells you to do anything, make sure that you are obedient. Be very careful to respect and obey your parents. Reverence them. Spend time with God in prayer and just standing in His presence. Build yourself up with spiritual songs. As you do this, things will become very clear to you. (some caveats about hearing God's Voice)
